Foods Produced in the

Muckleshoot Community

The focus of this project is to build up our tribal food economy and create pathways for tribal harvesters to sell products to sustain their living. This project is about empowering, and connecting tribal members with access to traditional foods, and providing tribal harvesters access to a market. It is also about building up a community food network for the tribes in the pacific northwest, with a central focus on Muckleshoot. This project has allowed us to glean the community orchard and provide fruit to a tribal resource center and bring fisherman directly into the Muckleshoot community to sell salmon. FEED has partnered with First Nations Development Institute Native Agriculture, and Food Systems Initiative (NAFSI) for this project. In an effort to strengthen our Food Economy, FEED has purchased all culturally significant foods from Tribal Harvesters, and utilized Native Creatives to develop the packaging for food distribution.
